Is the company you hired doing the service?

Is the company you hired doing the service?

Many companies offer low ball prices to get the service. Once the service is acquired they offer the contract to a 3rd party to do the work. Both have the intention to make money from the contract. However many times the work lacks quality and short cuts are taken to get the job done as quickly as possible.
No doubt this system may work for “nationwide contracts” but from small to medium size businesses this may in fact be a bad choice. When you have a subcontractor coming in to your facility they are limited in any extra needed changes to be done in the request you may have. It takes time for them to receive the ok to perform the work & there may be an increase in the contract.
If the work is to be contracted will the 3rd party have insurance or workman’s comp insurance on their employees? Who is responsible if something is broken and needs replaced. Do they have a bond if something is stolen from the job site? Many factors play into hiring a janitorial service to maintain your facility.
The cheapest price is not always the best decision in hiring a janitorial service. Chances are if you are having problems with your current provider that you hired based only on price you will have greater problems if you find a cheaper price.
One other thing to consider is the termination of the contract. Do they offer a 30 day written notice by either party to end the contract? Or do they have terms that lock the client in to a set time only that the contract can end? Again this only benefits the service provider no matter how good or how bad they are performing their duties.

What is the real cost of hiring the wrong janitorial service?

unhappy-customer

Hiring the wrong person can have a major impact on your lifestyle, home or company. Why? Because janitorial firms are responsible for the presentation, safety and security of your building and its occupants. I have learned from my many years of experience in the janitorial industry that all too often customers don’t ask enough questions of prospective janitorial vendors. People tend to hire a firm based on price, get burned because of poor service, and repeat the process again and again. If companies changed the way they hire firms, this wouldn’t keep happening. Most customers have become resigned to the fact that they won’t get good service and have very low expectations. I believe this resignation stems from the fact that people don’t understand the importance of hiring wisely. It is not their fault because most firms look, smell and sound professional.
How wrong janitorial service can affect you?
  • If you are a property manager, your tenants may cite it as a breach of contract and break their lease.
  •  If you run a hospital or medical facility, a representative from the State can drop by at any time to do a compliance audit.
  • If you oversee a school, you know that it must be clean to please parents and keep student sick days to a minimum.
  • If you work in a commercial building, a dirty office can leave a negative impression on customers.
  • The wrong janitorial service cannot deliver what was promised.
  • The wrong janitorial service doesn't supply adequate crew to perform the services required.
  • The wrong janitorial service selects the service based on price, instead of a combination of price and quality service.
  • Ongoing communication does not take place between the service provider and the facility manager.
In addition to cleanliness, it is essential that you trust the company that you’ve selected. Your cleaning crew has access to desks and other valuables, not to mention the fact that if they clean at night, they are responsible for locking doors and setting alarms. Doors left unlocked can cause major liability issues.

Why you should have your carpet cleaned

Just as the clothes we wear need regular washing to keep them fresh and hygienic; our carpets also require periodic cleaning. Accumulated soil and grit are major causes of reduced carpet and fabric life, and enable destructive and health harmful mites and bacteria to work unchecked. Cleaning costs are minimal when you consider the replacement cost of carpets and furnishings, so regular cleaning makes economic sense too.
If you are not fully convinced of the benefits of carpet cleaning, consider the following ways the process leads to a healthier home.

Trapped pollutants are eliminated by carpet cleaning:

A dirty carpet can retain several sources of indoor air pollutants, including pet dander and everyday dirt and dust. Toxic airborne gases can adhere to these particles and also get trapped within the carpet. These toxic gases can be released through everyday activities such as vacuuming and walking across the carpet, which can cause them to contaminate the air in your home. Professional carpet cleaning services kill these bacteria through special carpet shampoo formulas.

Mold growth can be prevented by carpet cleaning:

Dirty carpets are at a high risk of developing mold growth when exposed to moisture. Having your carpet cleaned regularly can prevent mold and mildew growth, because professional carpet cleaners have high-powered drying tools that annihilate moisture. If you choose to clean your carpet yourself, use fans and turn on the air or open windows to help dry the carpet out faster.

Air quality is improved by carpet cleaning:

Vacuuming removes contaminants from the carpet surface. When the contaminants penetrate deep into the carpet, breathing becomes difficult. Those who suffer from asthma and allergies find breathing easier after carpets have been professionally cleaned. The risk of allergen-induced attacks is reduced by improved indoor air quality.

Stains are removed by carpet cleaning:

Stains are also a problem. For example, stains caused from red wine or pet urine can actually provide a food source for bacteria living in your carpets.

Need of spring cleaning

Move into the spring season with a clean house/office

Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, you are starting to sneeze and even your kids are starting to sneeze in the mornings. Yes its spring season! This is the season of getting a new life and new beginning by sorting through your belongings, tossing the things you don’t use anymore, and performing a deep clean on your house so you’re ready to enjoy summer without clutter.
Your house just doesn’t feel as good towards the end of the winter as it did at the beginning of the fall. You’ve been shut up inside for the better part of up to 5 months, the air in the house is stale, the carpets are hit and you’re just ready for some new life from the new change of seasons.

Why you need spring cleaning?
Everyone! But especially those who suffer from allergies, asthma and other breathing disorders.  All winter long the house has been shut and one’s carpet becomes a breeding ground for airborne bacteria, mold spores, dust mite feces, pet dander, cat saliva, pollen, pollutants from ice melt chemicals, mud, dirt, sand and frit that we and our pets bring in from the outside. All of these things get lodged in our carpets, furnishings, bedding and draperies and they need to be cleaned. By reducing these allergens, dust particles and pollutants, we make our homes far healthier than if we didn’t clean it.

When and how often should you clean?
You should be proactive and clean before the appearance of your belongings tells you they should be cleaned. If it already looks bad, you’ve probably waited too long. Environmental Protection Agency studies tell us that our carpets should be cleaned every 6 to 12 months, especially if you have young children, elderly parents or if anyone suffers from various breathing disorders.

Important parts of your house to spring clean:
·         The walls
·         The Curtains
·         The Lights
·         The Floors
·         The Closets
·         The Cabinets
·         The Windows
