Is the company you hired doing the service?
Many companies offer low ball prices to get the service.
Once the service is acquired they offer the contract to a 3rd party
to do the work. Both have the intention to make money from the contract. However
many times the work lacks quality and short cuts are taken to get the job done
as quickly as possible.
No doubt this system may work for “nationwide contracts” but from small to medium size businesses
this may in fact be a bad choice. When you have a subcontractor coming in to
your facility they are limited in any extra needed changes to be done in the request
you may have. It takes time for them to receive the ok to perform the work
& there may be an increase in the contract.
If the work is to be contracted will the 3rd party
have insurance or workman’s comp insurance on their employees? Who is responsible
if something is broken and needs replaced. Do they have a bond if something is
stolen from the job site? Many factors play into hiring a janitorial service to
maintain your facility.
The cheapest price is not always the best decision in hiring
a janitorial service. Chances are if you are having problems with your current
provider that you hired based only on price you will have greater problems if
you find a cheaper price.
One other thing to consider is the termination of the
contract. Do they offer a 30 day written notice by either party to end the contract?
Or do they have terms that lock the client in to a set time only that the
contract can end? Again this only benefits the service provider no matter how
good or how bad they are performing their duties.
